Pumpkin spice lattes don’t have to be complicated to make. With the right ingredients you can make your morning coffee into a delicious PSL without any extra time or effort.
When I make a pumpkin spice latte, I like to give my puppy a pup cup with a pumpkin treat at the same time so that she can join in the fun!
Making lattes at home
Here’s what you need:
-
8-to-12-oz cup
-
Milk frother
-
Espresso machine
-
Whipping cream
For your espresso shots, you don’t need to be a barista to make an espresso that blends well with milk. There are a lot of options for machines that use capsules. I used a Nespresso Pixie for the pumpkin spice latte in the picture.
Start by putting your flavourings into the bottom of the cup. Make the espresso directly into the same cup and stir. Layer on frothed milk and then top with whipping cream.
In order to have enough room for your whipped topping, you’ll need a cup that’s at least 8 ounces in size.
Pumpkin spice latte recipe
The key ingredient to a quick-and-easy pumpkin spice latte is pumpkin pie spice extract. You should be able to find this in your grocery store next to the vanilla. If your grocery store doesn’t carry flavoured extracts, you may need to visit a baking or candy supply shop.
-
1 to 2 teaspoons of raw sugar
-
3 to 4 drops of pumpkin pie spice extract
-
1 shot of espresso
-
4 to 8 ounces of milk
I like to sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on my whipped topping for extra spice. Nothing takes the edge off a chilly fall day like a warm PSL and taking my puppy outdoors to play in the colourful leaves.
